1. Plain-language summary
These Terms apply when you use the SwiftCharge website, driver portal, customer account, QR or NFC access, prepaid Token wallet, charging stations and customer support services (the Services). SwiftCharge is the trading brand of ChargeNow (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/652907/07.
Prices and fees shown for a charging session apply to that session, subject to correcting a clear technical or billing error. Tokens are prepaid closed-loop credits for charging on the SwiftCharge network. They are not cash, cannot be withdrawn and are not refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise. If we verify that a charging-session error wrongly deducted Tokens or charged you for service not properly delivered, we will correct the error by crediting Tokens to your SwiftCharge wallet.
2. Charging, tariffs and site rules
The displayed tariff, taxes and any clearly disclosed session, idle, parking or occupancy fee may differ by site, charger, time, charging speed or programme. The amount due is calculated using the charger or approved backend meter data and the applicable tariff. Live displays may be estimates until the session is finalised.
A charger’s advertised kW rating is its maximum capability, not a promise of the rate your vehicle will receive. Actual charging speed can be affected by your vehicle, state of charge, battery temperature, connector limits, shared power, grid conditions and site load management. Chargers may be unavailable due to maintenance, faults, connectivity, load shedding, utility interruptions, site closure or use by another driver.
You must follow instructions at the charging site and use equipment safely. Do not use damaged equipment, force connectors, bypass safety controls, use unauthorised adapters or obstruct a charging bay. You remain responsible for your vehicle, cable and for disconnecting when charging is complete.
3. Tokens and prepaid wallet
Tokens are prepaid service credits recorded in your SwiftCharge wallet and may be used only for eligible charging services and any network fees expressly shown as payable with Tokens. They are not legal tender, a bank account, a deposit or a general-purpose payment method. Tokens have no cash value outside the SwiftCharge network and may not be sold, transferred or exchanged for cash unless SwiftCharge expressly provides that facility.
Paid, unused or partially used Tokens cannot be refunded, converted to cash or transferred because you changed your mind, did not use the service, selected the wrong amount or no longer require them. This does not limit any refund or remedy that South African law says cannot be excluded.
Promotional vouchers, bonus Tokens, goodwill credits and campaign rewards are also non-refundable, non-transferable and have no cash value. They may have additional campaign conditions or an expiry date displayed when issued.
4. Refund Policy and charging-session error credits
SwiftCharge does not provide cash refunds for prepaid Token purchases or promotional vouchers. Our normal remedy for a verified charging-session or billing error is a Token credit to the affected SwiftCharge wallet.
When we will investigate and credit Tokens
Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible if Tokens were deducted incorrectly, a session did not start, a charger stopped unexpectedly, a duplicate charge appears, or the energy/service recorded appears materially wrong. We will review the account record, charger and OCPP session data, meter data and payment information. Where a SwiftCharge technical or billing error is verified, we will issue the appropriate Token credit or adjustment. The credit is not a cash refund.
How to ask for a review
Email charge@swiftcharge.co.za or contact Phone support on 0871489896. Include your account email, charging date and time, site and charger name, connector (if known), and any receipt, screenshot or error message. We may request reasonable additional information to investigate.
If a refund, reversal or another remedy is required by applicable South African law, we will handle it in accordance with that law. Nothing in this policy prevents you from raising a genuine unauthorised, duplicate, incorrect or unlawful payment with us or your payment provider.
5. Accounts, payment and security
You must provide accurate account and contact information and keep it current. You are responsible for protecting your password, phone, RFID/NFC credential and any QR or account-access method. Tell us promptly if you believe your account or payment method has been used without authority.
By starting a paid session or purchasing Tokens, you authorise SwiftCharge and its payment providers to process the transaction you initiate and any clearly disclosed amount due. Payment-card data may be handled by our payment provider rather than stored by SwiftCharge. We may suspend an account or session where reasonably necessary for safety, suspected fraud, cybersecurity, non-payment, misuse or legal compliance.
6. Service quality, privacy and your rights
We will provide the Services with the care and standard required by applicable law. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, a particular charging speed, a specific driving range or compatibility with every vehicle or adapter. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under South African law.
We process personal information needed to operate accounts, charging sessions, payments, support and service communications in accordance with applicable privacy law. Transactional messages about charging, payments, receipts, security and account administration are service communications.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If any part is invalid or unenforceable, it will be read down only as far as necessary and the remaining Terms continue to apply. We may update these Terms for changes in law, technology or Services; material changes will be communicated through the website, driver portal, email or an in-product notice.
